New adventures just around the...
corner. Wonder what we've been up to all these months? We've been SOOOO busy we can't quite remember everything we've done. Of course, life wouldn't be life in our little world without a major dose of tornadic, frenetic intensity coupled with a dose of chaos and an extra serving of unpredictability. So, to sum up our activities over the past 14 months in a tiny little nutshell, here goes:
*we led another round of Financial Peace University (Sep07-Dec07) & coordinated an additional iteration of it from Jan 08-May 08
*we led the 1st & 2nd grade group of Pioneer Clubs (Sep-May08)
*travelled to USMA & NYC for a spectacular 15 year college reunion and witnessed one of the most incredibly, intense and improbable comebacks in football history between USMA & Temple (was it Temple?)
*continued to homeschool the two oldest children and successfully kept the newborn out of trouble for the duration (taught him how to walk, start to talk and pull lots of things off of every surface scattered about the house & environs)
*spent a fun-filled although work induced 3 days in Atlanta (enjoyed the wonderful world of Coca Cola and the fantastic aquarium in downtown Atlanta), stumbled on a couple of letterboxes along the way
*spent a 2-day respite at Virginia Beach leading up to Christmas 07 (our last vacation)
*travelled to Charlottesville for yet another work-induced whirlwind trip (found a couple of letterboxes along the way)
*stumbled on a 'fixer upper' home accidentally, placed an offer and surprisingly found ourselves the new owners of the 'ugly duckling' of a great neighborhood in Alexandria, VA
*4 days before we're scheduled to 'close' on this new 'diamond in the rough' (read: lots & lots of elbow grease, major renovation & hard work required to find anything remotely looking like a house beneath all the grit, grime & debris) I get notice of a short-fuse year-long deployment to the big spa in Mesopotamia
*instead of spending the month of August planning, permitting & executing a total kitchen renovation, we find ourselves in the middle of a tornado as we must hire a nanny, enroll the kids in school (for the first time ever), clear our old home, DIY-move ourstuff to the new home AND, YES AND, CLEAR OUT THE 'NEW TO US' HOME AS THE PREVIOUS OCCUPANTS DECIDED TO LEAVE ALMOST ALL OF THEIR POSSESSIONS INSIDE THE HOME
So, we've been just a tad bit busy these past several months. Anyway, I just wanted to keep you posted on our crazy adventures at the moment and let you know that I'll attempt to document my experiences at the big 'Mesopotamian Spa' as I'm able (if I'm able).
Enjoy your adventures in letterboxing & I hope to be able to post photos over the next year. If you every find a spare moment, please say a little prayer for our family during this tumultuous time as our lives have been turned a bit topsy-turvy during this 'new adventure'. Blessings in all your endeavors & I can't wait to see you on the flip-side about a year from now. ;)

Sounds like you have had a busy time! Looks like we will be trading placed in the spa, as I am on my way out now. If you get a chance, check out the boxes that were planted up North and down South.
Good luck!
I was just thinking about you recently! You definitely have been busy and am I right in reading your blog that only "mom" is headed for the "spa"? I'm sure it will be challenging for the whole family, but on the plus side, I'm hoping we see more frequent blog entries! Your travel reports were always so interesting and photos were great.
Best wishes!
