Mis-adventures of a Letterboxer-Errant

Dirty Market linens...

This is why I wanted to explore the markets. Too bad we were running out of time before it closed! :( Folks from all regions of China and the autonomous regions travel to sell their wares at the Dirty Market. Many of these linens/textiles were from the Tibetan and Mongolian regions. The colors were incredible! I bargained for a couple of pieces but could never really settle on any--so I only left the market with one. Had I had some more time to bargain I probably would have left with many. The colors were so vibrant--unlike anything I'd seen in the US. I was in hog heaven!!! I kept really liking the pieces that were used to 'wear babies' around--similar to the way the Korean women carry their infants around on their bodies--sort of like a giant quilt that's tied on with a couple of fabric belts. These were less intricate in their 'mechanics' but more brilliant colors and exquisite embroidery detail. Too bad I didn't have much cash on me during this outing. :(
