Lonely Rock at Sunset

Oedolgae or "Lonely Rock"


We headed out for dinner and instead decided to drive along the coast and 'see what we would find' in the coastal city of Seogwipo--passing the uniquely designed World Cup Soccer Stadium along the way. We followed signs to Cheonjiyeon Waterfalls but instead discovered a detour to the Oedolgae Rock Formation. So, we opted to first explore this natural wonder.

Along our trek down along the rocky cliffs neighboring this 'lonely rock' we happened upon a kiosk selling orange senbe--cookies similar to fortune cookies but with a hint of orange flavor. It was that or the shrimp flavored chips (cookies?).We wandered along the path that hugged the rugged cliffs high above the crashing waves below. The sun was setting and the color of the water was breathtaking. It ranged from jet black to emerald & teals, to forest greens, to sea greens--spectacular! I proceeded to hastily carve an impromptu letterbox and quickly found a unique hiding spot that hopefully won't be discovered by non-letterboxers.
