Mis-adventures of a Letterboxer-Errant

like a tree without leaves or fruit, or a body without a soul"

Pit house

Pit House at Amsadong

trkr & rnrB enjoying their visit to the pithouses of Amsadong. The Koreans apparently happened upon these in the 1920s during a period of Japanese Occupation--but they never explored them. Fast forward to 1967 and archaeologists finally started to investigate them and discovered 29 pit house foundations with thousands of shards of pottery and arrowheads that survived the test of time. What an incredible thing to happen upon for these two homeschooled kids--as we're studying things quite similar to this right now.
