Mis-adventures of a Letterboxer-Errant

Seven Star Stones

From the Summer Palace, we headed across town to a southeastern suburb to visit the Tiantan, Temple of Heaven, grounds. I quickly fall in love with this park. It's one of the largest parks in all of Beijing--covering 273 hectares. It boasts gorgeous flower gardens and beautiful tree lined promenades that feel spacious and cool. Along one of our strolls to visit various 'must sees' in the park, we stumble across these Seven Star Stones. They were interesting! Supposedly, these stones 'fell from heaven' according to some legend. Instead, I think the sign said that one of the emperors placed them there and had the stones carved into various star shapes.
