Mis-adventures of a Letterboxer-Errant

Jungmun Beach!

After our incredible day of touring about the island, we came home to spend some idle time near the hotel. We darted down to Jungmun Beach and were delighted to see that we had the ENTIRE beach to ourselves!!! The sand was quite unique. From a distance it appeared whitish-sable colored. Up close, it appeared to be camel brown with dots of black lava sand mixed in. Its texture was larger than what we recently experienced in Mississippi on its sugar sand beaches. Here, the sand was 'crunchier'. It reminded me quite a bit of the black sand beach I fell in love with on the Big Island a few years ago. It was comfortable to walk in but didn't really give you that "I need to wash my feet right away" bothersome feel. We beachcombed for a bit--looking for abalone shells but instead I found many beautiful pieces of polished glass--in shades of blues and greens. I rarely find these shades at home on our beaches in Washington--so this was polished glass heaven for me!
