Waterfalls by Moonlight
Cheonjiyeon Waterfall
We then explored the Cheonjiyeon Waterfalls magically illuminated after dark. We followed the beautiful walk along the river and marvelled at the unique footbridges that spanned the river and the interesting statues that graced the path. There were koi/carp in the river that were GIGANTIC. We eventually found ourselves at the foot of the falls--standing near a pond that is home to myriad eel. The sight, at night, was especially spectacular. The shadows appeared to dance high atop the rocky cliff walls and the rushing sound of the cascading water was music to our ears! Who knew that we were still in Korea?
This lush island of Cheju has transported us to another world--an eden eons away from the hustle and bustle of urban megalopolis life we typically find on the mainland. At times, I find myself not even believing I'm still in Korea. The roads are lightly travelled, courtesy abounds and around every bend on the roads you either find an amazing view of Hallasan or the breathtaking blues of the Yellow Sea. The streets are lined with gorgeous yellow rape flowers. The villages and orchards are bursting with orange and kumquat trees. I'm amazed that this island is part of the same Korea we've spent so much time in. I can see why this is the 'honeymoon island' for most Koreans!!! AMAZING!!!
